Payment FAQs

WHO WE ARE

What exactly do you do?

We help you transact!

We provide a simple but robust payment platform to facilitate secure, frictionless transacting. Our goal is extend first-world payment infrastructure beyond the US in a responsible and transparent way. Like all things we do, its about establishing trust and transparency.

Our solutions are low/no code right now, but we also plan to offer support for subscriptions and APIs that provide value even in complex payment scenarios.

FOR CUSTOMERS

Why am I seeing a charge from TRANSAQ*MERCHANT?

You purchased a good or service from one of our merchants.

When you made the purchase a receipt was sent to your email detailing the transaction and the way the charge would appear on your statement.

Can I inquire about a transaction?

If you have issues recognizing or reconciling a TRANSAQ charge, you can send us an email at support@transaq.io. We’ll do our best to investigate and clarify all we can.

Why are merchants using your platform?

Because global payments are hard.

You’d be surprised at how many people can’t buy what they want because of little complications between networks and local banks. If you purchased from one of our merchants, we probably saved you both some hassle, and maybe a few phone calls.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by the merchant you purchased goods/services from and are subject to their refund policy. If you have an issue with the goods/services you purchased, reach out to the merchant outlining the issue in a civil and detailed way. If you have issues getting in touch with the merchant, send us an email at support@transaq.io.

FOR MERCHANTS

Who can use Transaq Payments?

Almost anyone looking to accept payments—whether they’re individual freelancers or contractors, small and medium businesses with online stores, or large enterprises managing multiple physical locations. If you need global payments, multi-currency support or advanced cross-border functionalities, this platform is built for you.

We’re currently in a limited beta, testing in multiple regions within the Americas and the Caribbean. If you want more info, send us an email at info@transaq.io.

Are there hardware requirements?

Just a business device (e.g., mobile phones, employee tablets) and standard internet access. The platform supports major e-commerce integrations and offers easy POS options for in-person payments.

Certain optional (advanced) features are only available on mobile with Android 11+.

How do I sign up?

Simply visit our app and register. Provide basic business or personal details, verify your identity, and once approved, you can begin accepting payments immediately—no monthly fees, commitments, or minimum volume required.

Do you support my country?

We currently support the USA and the Caribbean, but we’re constantly deepening our relationships with our financial partners to empower more merchants and customers to transact better and easier.

We want to hear about YOUR situation in YOUR own words, so if you want a chance to be part of our pilot in your territory, shoot us an email at info@transaq.io and tell us about your business, industry, volume and your pain points.

Do I need a specific bank account?

You need a local bank account in your country. You can add other accounts and use them for payouts, but you can only receive payouts if your core local currency account is operational.

How long does setup and onboarding take?

Most users can complete registration and begin processing payments within 1–2 business days after submitting the necessary documents for verification. We might request additional information or document resubmission if your submissions are found to be inaccurate, conflicting or faulty.

How often do I get paid out?

Settlement cycles can be configured based on your needs. Standard settlement typically occurs weekly. Some merchants opt for flexible or on-demand payouts.

ABOUT PAYMENTS

What types of payments can I accept?

You can accept credit and debit cards, regional mobile wallets, alternative payment systems (like CashApp, PayPal coming soon…), and any other card derivative payments. Payment can be taken online (via e-commerce) or in-person (through POS or payment links).

Is there an option for payment links?

Yes. You can easily generate secure payment links and share them via email, text, or social media for quick remote payments. This is ideal for customers who are security-minded, or less trusting/tech-savvy, who might prefer to pay privately on their own devices.

What about in person payments?

Once you generate a payment link, you can send them to your customer or present a QR code for them to scan. They can then pay from the privacy and security of their own phone, right in front of you.

If Tap-to-Pay’s enabled, you can present the device (phone) for the customer to hover their card/phone and complete the transaction.

What about high-volume transactions?

The platform supports high-throughput merchants.

We’re working on making this easier so you can store product catalogs, re-use transaction details, and shave seconds off your process.

Are there monthly fees or minimums?

No. We don’t charge any monthly fees, commitment costs, or minimum transaction requirements. You only pay a transaction fee when you make a sale or accept a payment

How do I know the exact fee before charging?

Our transparent pricing structure is visible on our pricing page (in-app as well).

What about exchange rates and foreign transaction fees?

Our multi-currency features leverage favorable exchange rates from our service partners and we try to minimize your foreign exchange exposure by default. Special settlement flows may incur a foreign exchange fee, which we pass on to you. See our pricing page for more details.

Can this replace my existing card machines and POS hardware?

Yes, depending on your situation.

By delegating POS permissions to a capable smartphone, you can process payments of any type so long as you and the customer have internet access. Tap-to-Pay functionality allows high trust merchants to ditch card readers and process face-to-face payments as long as you have internet access.

You can even allow employees/managers to send payment requests on behalf of the business from their own mobile devices without risking leakage of card, details or customer/business information.

What about downtime or connectivity issues?

Our infrastructure partners offer 99.999% (five 9s) uptime. As long as you have reliable internet, you can process payments. This eliminates the need for multiple machines “just in case”.

We understand that different territories have varying ISP quality, and we do out best to make our platform responsive for all merchants and users.

Does this work for businesses with multiple physical stores?

Absolutely. Each location can have a single main device (or a few) plus manager/employee devices operating under controlled permissions. This cuts down on hardware costs and mitigates the risk of equipment failures.

ABOUT THE PLATFORM

How secure is the platform?

We implement strong encryption at a transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and a hybrid role-based + attribute-based access control (RBAC + ABAC) model, depending on your configuration. We follow all industry standards and internal practices and partner only with PCI compliant networks and licensed financial partners. This ensures all payment data remains encrypted, obfuscated and safe.

We do everything we can to keep merchant data safe and do not store customer data on our servers, which increases security at the cost of speed- in accordance with out values. Our account delegation tools subscribe to principles of least privilege, to protect merchants and freelancers who are less tech savvy.

We take security very seriously. If you ever need to report a security concern, such as a lost device or compromised email, please reach out to us at support@transaq.io as soon as you can so we can safeguard your account and data.

Does the platform provide analytics?

Yes. Your dashboard shows transaction volume, revenue, dispute rates and other critical payment metrics.

Can I limit which employees can process refunds or see transaction data

Yes. Using our ABAC permissions, you can assign or restrict specific roles and privileges at a granular level to maintain the principle of least privilege.

Are logs available for subordinate actors (employees/agents)?

Yes. Activity logs are maintained so owners or admins can see who performed which actions and when.

Will I receive detailed statements or reports?

Absolutely. You’ll have access to all transaction details, including fees, chargebacks, and settlement histories, which can be downloaded at any time.

Can I integrate the data into my own accounting system?

Data exports are provided in multiple formats (CSV, XLS, etc.), making it easy to feed into QuickBooks, ZohoBooks, Excel, or other accounting tools, but no dedicated adaptors or special functyion integrations exist at this time.

Does the platform handle disputes and chargebacks?

We assist merchants in managing disputes and chargebacks with transparent processes and support documentation, but final responsibility rests with the merchant.

How do I cancel or pause my account if needed?

There’s no contract lock-in. You can pause or cancel anytime by contacting support at support@transaq.io.

FOR GLOBAL MERCHANTS

What payment types do you accept?

We accept all major debit/credit cards, ACH and wire transfer.

How does the platform handle multi-currency payments?

We accommodate both USD and local currency payments, and we settle to USD by default. You can configure your account to accept multiple currencies. We automatically recognize the transaction currency and calculate settlement in the appropriate currency.

This is cheaper for most merchants, as it dodges the typical foreign exchange fees (e.g. like with PayPal). This can be useful for global merchants, who often have to pay bills in USD, as our financial partners typically give us better rates than merchants get from their banks.

Local currency settlement is an option, but then we can’t avoid the exchange fee and we pass it onto you. We’re always deepening our connections to regional networks in an attempt to bring you the best possible options for transacting.

Can I settle in multiple currencies

Yes. You can configure different transactions to be settled in different currencies, leveraging favorable exchange rates from our financial partners.

Do I need separate merchant accounts for different regions?

Not usually. We work under a unified, global framework that covers multi-region operations. In many cases, you can manage all your currency flows under one account with flexible settlement routing.

What about tax responsibilities?

Transaq operates as an ‘Agent of the Payee.’ This means you assume any relevant tax implications in your jurisdiction. For cross-border or e-commerce outside your territory, you may need to consult a tax professional for local obligations.

At this time we do not offer a global tax solution, but if you’re already processing payments and you’re interested in offloading your tax completixy, shoot us an email at info@transaq.io.

ADVANCED

Does the platform support multiple business entities under one account?

Yes. Owners can manage multiple entities or brands and selectively delegate access with the same ABAC and MFA features.

Can I customize checkout experiences on my own website?

Yes. We offer plugins for major e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce, Shopify, etc.) so you can tailor the checkout to match your brand’s look and feel.

More customization and branding features are constantly being added.

Is there any developer support for custom integrations?

Coming soon.

Right now we’re focused on making global payments easy. Once we’re confident we’re maximizing your conversions, we’ll give you tools to tackle atypical integrations.
